It’s my great honour to receive the prestigious Louise Macfie Scholarship for Painting! Annually, a graduating student whose work "has shown the most improvement in painting, over the duration of the Bachelor of Visual Arts degree," is selected for the prize of $2,000 to spend towards their arts practice. Louise Macfie has been a true arts patron of Edith Cowan University for many years, and her passion for painting has been felt by generations of humbled students.
A variety of privileges were awarded to this year’s graduates. Among these is a nomination for Hatched, the National Graduate Show at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Art (PICA) for 2017. I’m delighted to say I am one of the five emerging artists at ECU to receive a nomination!
2017 is looking to be a very exciting year! I wish to thank my mentors, whose vast knowledge I relied upon to advance; lecturers Paul Uhlmann and Gregory Pryor, and generous technicians Ben Waters and Vanessa Wallace.
And to those who came down to support me on the opening night, it was so nice to see friends from years past, whose love for art remains kindled in Perth. I hope to see you all again next year!
